Cuaresma Schedule 2009
In the Yoeme Communities, the people celebrate the Lenten Season through the
Yaqui Easter Cultural Ceremonies. The Ceremonies begin on Ash Wednesday and
continue through Easter Sunday. One aspect of this ceremony is the Yaqui
interpretation of the Catholic liturgy for the Easter Season, concurrent with
the dramatization of the Passion of Jesus Christ by the Yoeme People.
The following is a schedule of events which occur during Lent.

Processions to the fourteen stations of the cross by members of the church group 6:00 p.m.

Palm Saturday |
The fiesta: An all night fiesta with the emergence of the Deer Dancer and the Pahkolam 9:00p.m.
The Fiesta Procession 11:00 p.m.

The procession with the Palms and Procession of Christ into Jerusalem 11:00 a.m.
Palm distribution.

Late morning Procession of the Heart of Jesus with angels 10:00 a.m.

The Crucifixion of Christ followed by two processions and all night vigil of the body of Christ 5:30 p.m.
